See Vanessa Carlton’s Performance Of “River” From Upcoming Live Album
Just two weeks ago Vanessa Carlton shared a live recording of her single, “Operator,” off her upcoming first live album. Today we get another taste of the concert with a performance of her Liberman track, “River.” Like the Living Room Sessions version of the song that appears on the deluxe edition of Liberman, this performance of “River” lets the lyrics and melody speak for themselves. It’s a gorgeous, moving ballad that finds strength in its traditional piano-singer format. The live version of “River” heard here is a lovely improvement on the original album version.
Vanessa is joined by her husband, John McCauley III, on guitar and Skye Steele providing backing vocals and violin.
The performance was filmed, directed, and edited by Jesse DeFlorio. The black and white footage lends to the song’s simplistic beauty. Check out the live performance of “River” below:
“Operator” will appear on Liberman Live, out October 21st. Earlier this year, we also got premature hints of the live set with “Matter Of Time” and “House Of Seven Swords.” You can pre-order Liberman Live now ahead of its release. The album will include eight songs:
1. Take It Easy
2. Blue Pool
3. Nothing Where Something Used To Be
4. House Of Seven Swords
5. Operator
6. Willows
7. Matter Of Time
8. River
