Evanescence Debuts Punchy New Song, “Take Cover”

“Take Cover” is Evanescence’s first new song in years. The goth band has been out of the game for a little while. They released their last album, Evanescence, five years ago, and we haven’t heard new music from the group since. Frontwoman Amy Lee scored a movie, which produced the album Aftermath, in 2014. She also recorded her children’s album, Dream Too Much, which came out this fall.

Evanescence has played a few shows and festivals in the last year, and the goth band’s fans will be excited to learn that they performed a new song at one of their concerts. “Take Cover” is a punchy, fast-paced song that exudes power. It’s a stripped down version of what we’re used to from Evanescence, following the trend of their 2011 self-titled album. Still, Amy maintains a lot of Evanescence’s signature vocal acrobatics with an operatic bridge, and the forceful guitars provide the perfect backing for the song’s warnings of punishment for a liar.

There is no word on when the next Evanescence album will come, but Amy said in September that new Evanescence music coming… slowly.  Still, with Amy’s return to her dyed black hair, fans can be forgiven for hoping that it will be soon.

In the meantime, Evanescence is releasing a massive vinyl boxset containing all of their albums to date, including Origin, on December 9th. Keep checking back here for the latest Evanescence and Amy Lee news. We will keep you up-to-date on any new Evanescence album!
