Last month, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy posted a short video declaring that a new song was coming soon. Now, a full month later, and the message has been repeated and expanded. Muse just shared a short teaser video for this upcoming music, still “coming soon.”
But the teaser clip also shows brief shots of a video shoot, a man counting down from five to “action!” just before a small explosion. It looks like the new music will come with a video! The only question now is when?
Check out the announcement video below:
Update May 9, 2017: Muse shared another short clip of them filming the music video.
Besides the vague “coming soon,” the video doesn’t suggest exactly how soon we’ll get this new song. Will it be a standalone single? The first preview of an upcoming album?
The song may be released in conjunction with Muse’s upcoming tour with 30 Seconds To Mars and PVRIS, which kicks off later this month. (Check out tour dates and tickets before it’s too late!)
Last November, Muse hinted that the new album may be more stripped down and acoustic… or hip-hop. They also said the new album most likely won’t be ready until 2018. At the time they only tentatively mentioned a new song or two could be ready in 2017. Luckily for us, that part came true, and only a few months into the year!
Muse is still maintaining the mystery for now, but soon enough we’ll learn more about this new song (and video) and the upcoming 8th album. It will serve as the followup to their 2015 record, Drones. Keep checking back here for all the latest on Muse’s new music.
