Lana Del Rey Shares Snippet Of New Song, “Happiness Is A Butterfly”

Though her latest album, Lust For Life, just came out last July, Lana Del Rey is already writing and recording new music. She’s been in the studio with hitmaker Jack Antonoff recently, and today we might have just gotten our first taste of their work together. This afternoon, Lana shared a snippet of a new song called “Happiness Is A Butterfly.” It’s a sparse, melodic song; Lana croons with only piano to accompany her. Listen to the short clip below:

happiness is a butterfly
try to catch it like every night
it escapes from my hands
into moonlight.
every day is a lullaby
I hum it on the phone like every night
and sing it for my babies on the tourlyfe

There’s no word yet on when we can expect to hear the followup to Lust For Life. It’s been less than a year since that album came out, and Lana is currently touring in support of it. We may hear new music later this year – and this snippet is promising – but 2019 is more likely for another full album. Hopefully we’ll get to hear a full studio recording of “Happiness Is A Butterfly” soon, whether as a standalone single or as part of her next project. Lana may also perform it live during her upcoming concerts.

At this point, it’s a bit early to think about Lana’s next album. But she can always surprise us! As always, keep checking back here for all the latest Lana Del Rey music news.
