Avicii Working With Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong On New Album
Avicii only released his first album, True, less than a year ago, but he is already getting ready for his next release. He has some interesting collaborations planned from unexpected artists, including Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day. He told the Austrian publication Kronen Zeitung all about it (see the translated English version):
For my next album I got myself Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Brandon Flowers of the Killers and even Chris Martin into the studio – this is so great for me, I have always admired them all.
Avicii has worked with Chris Martin from Coldplay before: He co-wrote and produced the single “A Sky Full Of Stars,” off of Coldplay’s new album, Ghost Stories.
Meanwhile, Billie Joe Armstrong is no stranger to exploring different genres. Although Green Day is firmly planted in punk and alternative rock, Billie Joe has stepped outside of those boundaries a few times in the last couple of years. Most recently, he worked with Norah Jones on a full album of Everly Brothers covers last year – Foreverly came out in November 2013. It will be interesting to hear his collaboration with Avicii.
Avicii hasn’t confirmed if these three rock singers will provide vocals on any of his new tracks, or if they will simply be writing together. He also didn’t mention when his sophomore album will be released. It will be exciting to see how these collaborations unfold. Which one are you most excited to hear?
