Obsessed With Music: Why I Started Hidden Jams

Hello everyone out there! I want start by thanking everyone who has taken the time to read the pieces I’ve written, shared them with anyone else, or helped inspire me to do this. I hope you like the content I’ve been putting up here at Hidden Jams – there will be plenty more to come!

Inspiration Behind the Blog: Simple Love for Music

I have always loved music, but it got to an almost obsessive level in the early 2000s, and I was a young teenager figuring out who I was. It wasn’t until after high school that I started keeping really close track of what my favorite bands were doing, and, more specifically, how their new albums were coming along. At that time (around mid-2008), two artists I loved – Green Day and Kelly Clarkson – were recording new albums and getting ready to release them to the world. But I, being impatient and curios, wanted to know everything immediately, before the albums were even done. I was excited to learn new song titles in interviews or see fun behind-the-scenes videos from the studio.

And I didn’t just read about this new album information. I was writing it all down in a little Excel file. I typed in song titles and their dates and sources religiously. And once the albums came out, I still had all these leftover song titles that I wondered about. Rather than delete them and forget they ever happened, I decided to keep them in my files. Just in case any of them were ever heard. And in the end, years later, we have finally heard some of these songs.

Long story short, I kept following my 20-ish favorite singers and bands and keeping track of all their musical processes. By 2013, my file was extensive but very well organized. I showed the songs list to my boyfriend, and I was surprised at how impressed he was. He exclaimed like it was the coolest thing he’d ever seen. I just thought I was being nerdy and obsessive and that no one else would get it. But apparently it was something he found really interesting.

My boyfriend encouraged me to start this blog. I have something unique going on here, and I want to share it with other people like me – other super fans that want to know all the latest things going on with their favorite bands and singers.

More Features at Hidden Jams

Thanks to the internet and social media, there’s a plethora of information out there. I take all the news I can and bring it together so fans can have a neat little page with all the info they need. Every song title, sneak peak picture or video, telling interview – all of it. Hidden Jams is the backstage pass to your favorite music, at every stage of its creation.

I’ll be adding more features in the future – more Recording Process pages to document upcoming albums, Making The Album pages (similar to Recording Processes, but for albums that already came out), complete song lists, and more. In time, I’ll also add more artists to meet the interests of all who like Hidden Jams.

Please feel free to contact us with any news stories, Behind the Music song requests, questions or concerns, or anything else you’d like to say. Also check out the Hidden Jams FacebookTwitter, and Tumblr for up-to-date news.

Look around the site – there are lots of different features, with more coming soon!
