Kelly Clarkson & Josh Groban Team Up On “Phantom Of The Opera” Tune
Kelly Clarkson promised us another unexpected duet – beside her haunting new ballad with John Legend, that is – and now the news is out: Her mystery partner is Josh Groban, and the song is from the famous musical, Phantom Of The Opera.
The pair of powerhouse vocalists sing the love song “All I Ask Of You,” which appears at the end of Act I in the musical. Josh’s duet with Kelly will appear on his upcoming album, Stages, due out on April 28th. We’ll have to wait a bit longer before their version of the song is out, but you can hear this rendition from the 2005 film version of Phantom Of The Opera.
Kelly Clarkson has talked of wanting to do musical theater and a Broadway album, and this may be just the first step in that direction. In the meantime though, she has a new pop album called Piece By Piece at the top of the charts. She also has plans to do a country album and an R&B record (!), so there’s no telling when her Broadway dreams will come to fruition.
Josh Groban’s album of musical theater songs, Stages, will be released on April 28th, but you can pre-order it on iTunes now. You will get instant downloads of his tracks “Pure Imagination” and “What I Did For Love.” Hopefully his rendition of “All I Ask Of You” with Kelly will be released ahead of the album as well – their voices are sure to blend beautifully!
