Kelly Clarkson Records Song For Upcoming Film, ‘The Secret Scripture’

Composer Brian Byrne has confirmed that Kelly Clarkson recently recorded the soundtrack song for an upcoming film called The Secret Scripture. He wrote the song with the film’s director, Jim Sheridan. We don’t have any details on Kelly’s new song yet, but it will evidently share the same title as the movie itself.

The Secret Scripture is a movie adaptation of the 2008 novel of the same name, written by Irish author Sebastian Barry. It tells the story of a one-hundred-year-old woman, Roseanne McNulty, who has lived in a mental hospital for the last 50 years. Through Roseanne’s own memoir and the accounts of Dr. Grene, we discover how Roseanne fell victim to the religious and political upheavals in Ireland in the 1920s and 1930s.

The movie adaptation stars Rooney Mara, Theo James, and Aidan Turner. They filmed it in Ireland between January and March 2015. See composer Brian Byrne’s announcement about the new soundtrack song below:

Update 4/2/16:

The movie is still in the process of securing a distributor. It is not known when The Secret Scripture will be released, but we’ll keep you posted on the date. Kelly’s song will likely not be available until the movie has a release date.

Meanwhile, Kelly is currently pregnant with her second child. Her daughter River Rose was born in June 2014. Her current single, “Piece By Piece,” features River Rose in the music video. Before that, Kelly released “Heartbeat Song” and “Invincible”. Though her album Piece By Piece just came out one year ago, Kelly is already planning her 7th album and hopes to have it out by the end of this year. Keep checking back here for all the latest Kelly Clarkson music news.
