Kelly Clarkson has been teasing a big announcement all week, and to keep excitement high, she’s done a series of Facebook live streams. Each day Kelly covered a different song and answered some fan questions, all while trying her best not to accidentally reveal the big news. But some smart fans figured it out anyway!
After releasing 6 albums (plus a greatest hits compilation and holiday record), Kelly is leaving her label, RCA. Kelly has now signed with Atlantic Records, where she’ll have more of the creative freedom she’s craved over the years.
Kelly’s first album with Atlantic will be something she’s wanted to do since she was young: A soulful record. After covering songs by the likes of Aretha Franklin and Ben E. King, it’s no surprise that Kelly wants to really delve into a genre that her voice was made for. Kelly confirmed that her soulful album should be out some time in 2017.
But that’s not the only Kelly news! In line with all the fan requests she’s been singing on Facebook this week, Kelly also announced a new website where fans can stream and download the songs she has covered on tour. KellyClarksonLive.com went live today, and it includes 4 songs that you can stream or download for free: “Creep” by Radiohead, “Fix You” by Coldplay, “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James, and “Ready For Love” by India.Arie.
They also uploaded a live video of Kelly performing her Piece By Piece ballad, “Tightrope.” (You can buy the live song on iTunes now.) Watch the live performance of “Tightrope” below:
On the last Friday of every month, Kelly’s team will add more songs and videos to the site for fans to stream, download, and enjoy. Check out KellyClarksonLive.com now!
There’s plenty of exciting stuff going on in the Kelly world. She just gave birth to her second child, a son named Remington, in April. Motherhood has led Kelly to an unexpected project: A children’s book. River Rose And The Magical Lullaby will be released on October 4th, and it will come with an original song by Kelly. She confirmed that she will go on a book tour around the time of its release. Kelly also recently recorded a song for an upcoming film called The Secret Scripture.
Kelly will release her new soulful album at some point in 2017. It will be her first album with Atlantic Records. Kelly also confirmed that she will release a country album in the near future as well. It will be exciting to hear the new direction Kelly’s music goes!
