Ghost Star In “Square Hammer” Moving Picture Music Video

Ghost has had quite the year. After releasing their Grammy-winning album Meliora last year (boasting singles like “Cirice” and “From The Pinnacle To The Pit”), Ghost is already back with new music. Their latest single is a new track called “Square Hammer.” It continues the 1970s-styled doom rock that the band has mastered, chants of “right here, right now” sticking in your head and demanding repeated listens.

Today “Square Hammer” also gets a music video. It has an early 1900s atmosphere as the band members attend the premiere of their first moving picture at the Meliora Grand. Papa Emeritus III and his Nameless Ghouls walk the red carpet to their opening night, but a more sinister presence comes out of the moving picture. It plays like the earliest horror films, and you’ll feel transported in time as you watch.

Zev Deans directed the Nosferatu-inspired clip for “Square Hammer.” Watch the music video below:

“Square Hammer” comes from Ghost’s new EP, Popestar. As with their 2013 If You Have Ghost EP, the other tracks are covers. Back in June, a Nameless Ghoul stated that the new EP will serve as a sort of bridge to Ghost’s next album, the follow-up to Meliora. There are some elements in the EP that will reemerge in their fourth full-length album.

Ghost’s Popestar EP just came out tonight, so be sure to get it now. The band has also just embarked on a North American tour of the same name – find dates and tickets before it’s too late. Keep checking back here for all the latest Ghost music news.
