Andrew McMahon fans, it’s time to get excited. Today he announced that his second solo album is officially ready! Andrew has been writing and recording for months, and already had 5 songs shaping up by January this year. Now all those long nights have paid off and the new music is that much closer to reaching our eager ears. See for yourself:
This summer, Andrew debuted a new song called “Fire Escape” while on tour with Weezer. The song is the first official single from the still-unnamed second album. Last month, Andrew revealed a lot about how the new music will sound, who he’s worked with, and how working in New York rather than California has influenced him. He said he’s “trying to take some chances on this record,” but there’s still some of his characteristic charm there, too.
When will the new album be out? Right now we’re looking at an early 2017 release, though Andrew did say there may be some pre-orders ready in time for the holidays:
[The idea is to have the record] geared up for a pre-sale before the holiday and hopefully out right around the first or second month of the new year. The idea is that we’ll start floating tracks. You’ll start hearing more music than just “Fire Escape” probably sometime around November. Then we’ll be gearing up for album release at the beginning of the year and a headlining tour in the spring.
“Fire Escape” is our first taste of the new Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness album. This summer, Andrew also released a single with Lindsey Stirling that they did for the new Pete’s Dragon movie. You can enjoy “Something Wild” while we wait for the new music to come out. Now is also a good time to revisit songs from his 2014 debut, Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness. Listen to singles “Cecilia And The Satellite” and “High Dive” as well as the album tracks.
Andrew should announce details about his new Wilderness album in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for news about the record’s title, track list, and release date. You can read up on all we know about it so far. Keep checking back here for all the latest music news.
