Kelly Clarkson Joins Aloe Blacc On ‘The Shack’ Soundtrack

Kelly Clarkson has been busy recording her highly-anticipated 7th studio album, a soulful record and her first under Atlantic Records. A single should be out in April, with the album expected in June. While there’s still a ways to go, it looks like our first new Kelly song of 2017 will be a soundtrack song for the upcoming film, The Shack. Kelly Clarkson and Aloe Blacc duet on a new song called “Love Goes On.”

We don’t know much about the new song yet. Rumor has it that “Love Goes On” has a jazzy sound. The soundtrack album for The Shack is available for pre-order now, but we may have to wait until its February 24 release to hear “Love Goes On”. Instead, pre-orders come with instant downloads of “When I Pray For You” by Dan + Shay, “Keep Your Eyes On Me” by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and “Stars” by Skillet. The soundtrack is comprised of mainly country artists, and religious themes are obvious from the song titles.

This makes sense, given that The Shack is described as a faith-based drama. It stars Octavia Spencer, Sam Worthington, and Graham Greene. John Fusco wrote the script, based on William P. Young’s 2007 novel of the same name. Stuart Hazeldine directed. The Shack will hit movie theaters on March 3rd.

Kelly recently released a moving cover of “It’s Quiet Uptown” from The Hamilton Mixtape, a soundtrack album for the wildly popular Broadway musical, Hamilton. Kelly is also set to appear on Reba McEntire’s new religious album, Sing It Now: Songs Of Faith & Hope, on the song “Softly And Tenderly.” You can pre-order that album now ahead of its February 3rd release.

Meanwhile, Kelly’s own soulful 7th album is slated for release this spring. You can read up on all we know about it so far. Keep checking back here for all the latest Kelly Clarkson music news.
