Hear Dreamcar’s Debut Single, “Kill For Candy”
What happens when you take 3/4 of No Doubt and add in 1/4 of AFI? You get a very ’80s styled new band called Dreamcar! It’s no secret that No Doubt has been on hiatus for most of this century as frontwoman Gwen Stefani pursues a pop solo career. And while her bandmates are happy for her and have explored their own separate projects, the three of them have been itching to reunite and record some new music. So Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, and Adrian Young decided to join forces with AFI’s Davey Havok back in 2014. After nearly three years of secrecy, the band is finally ready to share the new music. Our first taste is a song called “Kill For Candy.”
“Kill For Candy” is one of the first four songs the new group finished. Its unmistakably ’80s sound fits right in with the current throwback trend. But Dreamcar takes it one step further – it’s not just influenced by that decade. It actually sounds like it came right out of the ’80s. The song is energetic and fun, dreamy guitar and bass providing a perfect backdrop for the clever lyrics. Davey sings powerfully, his voice echoing through the track hypnotically.

“Kill For Candy” is just our first preview of Dreamcar. The band will release their self-titled debut album on May 12th. The album will include 12 songs.
