Vanessa Carlton Performs New Song, “Love Is An Art”
After releasing her fifth album, Liberman, in fall 2015, Vanessa Carlton embarked on a tour that produced two live EPs: Liberman Live and Earlier Things Live. Now Vanessa is back on tour in support of those EPs, and her live show is already bringing some new goodies. At a show in Toronto on March 3rd, Vanessa performed a brand new song called “Love Is An Art.”
The song is slow and moving, ambience building up with the sparse lyrics. “Love Is An Art” describes getting to know each other – the weakness, struggles, and all – and build up a protective relationship. It’s a lovely song that captures your full attention. Will it appear on the next studio album Vanessa releases? For now, fans can enjoy the live recording. This is not the first time Vanessa has debuted a brand new song live. Prior to Liberman‘s release, Vanessa performed many of its songs during tours. Fans heard songs like “House Of Seven Swords” and “Matter Of Time” years before the album came out.
Vanessa has already mentioned that she’s starting to work on her next album. She’s currently writing new songs, and will likely begin recording later this year. The upcoming sixth studio album will be her first written since having a child. Her daughter, Sidney, was born in early 2015 after Vanessa had already recorded all of Liberman. Vanessa is still early in the process, but hopefully she’ll reveal more about her next album in the coming months. “Love Is An Art” may appear on her next record.
