Back To 2007: 55 Singles That Turn 10 This Year
Ten years have flown by! Who here remembers the songs that were big in 2007? It was a major year for music, opening the door to many of today’s stars and continuing the success of others who may no longer dominate radio.
In 2007, Rihanna had her first astronomical hit with “Umbrella,” paving the way for her future singles domination. Amy Winehouse found international success with Back To Black, even as her personal health declined. Paramore also earned newfound success with “Misery Business” off of Riot!. Sara Bareilles debuted her first hit, “Love Song,” off her major label debut, Little Voice.
Avril Lavigne made an unexpected change in sound when she released the cheerleadery “Girlfriend” from The Best Damn Thing. Kelly Clarkson also shifted her sound, but in an opposite direction and with label opposition that limited the reach of her personal third album, My December. Gwen Stefani and Fergie were both big in the pop sphere, and Maroon 5, Alicia Keys, and Natasha Bedingfield found continued success from their impressive early 2000s beginnings.
Rock was also still an important part of popular music in 2007. Fall Out Boy built up their hype with singles like “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs” from Infinity On High. Evanescence, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, and Finger Eleven all enjoyed big hits in 2007.
