Fall Out Boy Shares Best ‘M A N I A’ Single Yet, “The Last Of The Real Ones”

Fall Out Boy only announced their new album, M A N I A, last April, and they’re already onto their third single. Following “Young And Menace” and “Champion,” our latest taste of M A N I A comes in the form of “The Last Of The Real Ones.” If you felt “Young And Menace” was a little too wild and “Champion” a bit tame, this new single may be more up your alley. It combines Fall Out Boy’s new sound and energy with the lyrical style we fell in love with over a decade ago. It’s the strongest song we’ve heard from their new album yet.

“The Last Of The Real Ones” starts with frantic piano, Patrick Stump’s vocals oscillating between energetic and chaotic. There’s just a bit of calm before the storm as the stomping chorus comes in. Patrick spends the song addressing “the last of a dying breed,” pondering how much he comes up in that person’s therapy sessions. He declares, “I’m here at the beginning of the end, the end of infinity with you.”

The song comes with a slow-motion music video starring the llama monsters from “Young And Menace”.

Fall Out Boy’s upcoming album, M A N I A, was originally schedule to be out this week. Last month, they announced that we’ll have to wait until January to hear the record. They simply aren’t done recording the songs yet, but we’ll have plenty to look forward to in the new year.

Pre-order M A N I A now and get instant downloads of all three singles. Fall Out Boy’s official store offers some great bundles, too. You can also listen to the new song on Spotify. The album will be out on January 19, 2018.
