Garbage Announces ‘Version 2.0’ Reissue Coming This June
After celebrating the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut in 2015, Garbage fans knew another celebration was in store for the band's sophomore record. Sure enough, last fall Garbage confirmed their commemorative plans. They already revealed some 20 Years Paranoid tour dates for Europe. Today, Garbage finally announced that the Version 2.0 reissue will be released on June 22nd! The album originally came out in May 1998 - can you believe it's been two whole decades already?
Here's a first look at what the bundle will include:
You can pre-order the Version 2.0 reissue here. It will include all twelve original tracks, as well as 10 b-sides and rarities recorded during the album sessions. It will be out on June 22nd.
Garbage will also be touring in celebration of Version 2.0 this September. They already announced European dates, so grab your tickets before it’s too late! US tour announcements should be coming soon.
To get yourself into the Version 2.0 mood, let's take a trip down memory lane and revisit the album's singles, shall we?
In addition to re-releasing Version 2.0, 2018 is also all about Garbage's next album. The band is currently writing and recording album #7, expected out in 2019. It will be the followup to their 2016 record, Strange Little Birds.
Garbage is still in the early stages of making this next album. Writing, demoing, and recording will likely take several months. Sometime in 2019 we’ll get to hear it. In the meantime, you can enjoy Garbage’s latest single. Last summer, “No Horses” was our first taste of where their next record is going, and one of five songs they’d already started. You can buy “No Horses” on iTunes or stream the song on Spotify now. All profits from sales and streaming of this song will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross through the end of 2018.
The band also just released an incredible biography last year. Be sure to pick up their book, This Is The Noise That Keeps Me Awake.
The next year is going to be exciting for Garbage fans. With the 20 Years Paranoid tour, a Version 2.0 reissue scheduled for June 22nd, and a plans for a brand new album in 2019, we have plenty to look forward to! Keep checking back here for all the latest Garbage news.
