Natasha Bedingfield’s New Album May Have A “Disco-Retro Vibe”
For the last four months, Natasha Bedingfield has been back in the studio working on new music. Although she just become a mother over the winter holidays – her son Solomon was born on New Year’s Eve – Natasha has been more inspired than ever! Natasha has been writing and recording with Linda Perry, and early in June we got our first snippet of the new music. Though it’s been eight years since her last album, Strip Me, Natasha seems to officially be working on a new album. And based on a new Instagram video, we can expect the new music to have a “disco-retro vibe.” Intriguing!
But before we get to that exciting news, let’s take a step back lest we miss other recent studio updates.

On August 4th, Natasha was in the studio working with TROY NōKA (with whom she recorded the song “Perfect Sense”) and Julianne Hough:

On the 11th, Natasha shared a video of her preparing for a new photo shoot. If you watch the video closely, you’ll notice a very important nugget of information. According to the creative director, Kii Arens, they were selecting ’70s-styled outfits to match the “disco-retro vibe of what they’ve been recording with Linda Perry in the studio”. That’s an exciting and fitting sound for Natasha to explore! Check out the video below. It features her new song, “Hey Boy,” which she wrote with Linda Perry.
Note: It seems that this photo shoot happened a month ago. Check out three photos here for a sneak peek.

Natasha’s newest post talks about how much fun she’s been having making this new record the last few months. We’ll take this as official confirmation that Natasha will, in fact, release a new album in the near future! It would be her first since 2010’s underrated Strip Me.

We are so ready for a new Natasha Bedingfield album, especially if it’ll include some disco-retro tunes! Though we’ve had some quiet years recently, 2017 saw Natasha release four new songs, including “Let Go” and “Hey Boy.” (The latter she wrote with current collaborator Linda Perry.) However, Natasha’s personal life took center stage later in the year. She announced her pregnancy in the fall, and her son Solomon was born on December 31st.
In February, Natasha said she was “really determined to get some of the best music and art that I’ve made out and into your ears”. Now that she’s back in the studio, we can’t help but wonder: might a new album be in the cards for 2018?
Natasha’s last album, Strip Me, came out an astonishing 8 years ago. Since then, Natasha has spent the better part of the past six years writing and recording, yet a full record still eludes us. Though we’ve gotten plenty of songs here and there over the years, fans are desperate for a full-length release. The good news is Natasha is officially recording a new album now! Whether she scrapped her work from the previous six years is unclear. But in any case, there’s new music to look forward to. Here’s hoping we’ll finally get album #4 this year!
It’s exciting to know that a new Natasha album could be coming our way. Catch up on all we know about the long-awaited fourth album. Keep checking back here for all the latest Natasha Bedingfield music news.
