New Avril Lavigne Song “Head Above Water” Registered

Last week, Avril Lavigne spent seven days filming the music video for her long-awaited comeback single. What is that first single? Nothing has been announced yet, but a new song was just registered on ASCAP. “Head Above Water,” written by Avril along with Travis Clark (of We The Kings) and Stephan Moccio, could be the song we’re about to hear.

The title fits the visuals Avril has described recently. The music video will feature her in water and in front of the Icelandic sea. The cover of her upcoming album will also involve Avril in water in some way. With a name like “Head Above Water,” this single – and album – has a clear theme.

Yesterday, Avril deleted nearly all of her Instagram posts, leaving only nine remaining. Today, she added six new ones. All together, they form a mosaic image of her submerged in water. It’s not clear if this is the single cover, album cover, or just a promo pic. However, it is clear that it was taken by photographer David Needleman during their July photoshoot. In any case, it fits the new song title perfectly!

Whatever the first single is – “Head Above Water” or something else – it will be released this month. It will most likely touch on Avril’s battle with Lyme disease.

Avril’s comeback single and music video will be out in a matter of days, with the album also expected later this year. It’s exciting to finally be this close to hearing Avril’s new music. With the passion and involvement she put into this record, we’re sure it will be her best yet. While we count down the days, catch up on all that went into making this new album. Keep checking back here for all the latest Avril Lavigne music news. There will be plenty coming up in the next few months!
