Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness Offers Escapism In “Blue Vacation”
Following “Ohio” and “Teenage Rockstars,” Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness just shared our third taste of his upcoming album, Upside Down Flowers. “Blue Vacation” is a stomping, dreamy song about getting away from it all. The piano plays a prominent role propelling the song forward, while Andrew’s falsetto vocals lend an air of carefree joy. The song instantly grabs your attention, sticks in your head, and demands a click of the “replay” button. It’s the best new song we’ve heard from Upside Down Flowers so far.
Andrew McMahon shared a message about “Blue Vacation” with its release:
I’m no stranger to the subject of escapism. The desire to run when things get difficult is hardwired into my DNA. These days I’m better at tempering the worst effects of that instinct, but the thought is alive and well in the song Blue Vacation. Running…It’s a temporary fix and the things we run from tend to find us in the end. But doesn’t it sound nice sometimes; The thought of putting it all down for a minute, grabbing the people you love and finding a beach somewhere? A place you’re safe from the drip feed dramas of the day. If you’ve ever had that feeling, this song is for you.
