Avril Lavigne’s New Album Will Come Out In February 2019
Avril Lavigne has finally announced when her new album is coming out: In February 2019, get ready to hear Head Above Water in full! Although Avril didn’t specify the day, we now have an exact month to look forward to. Avril also confirmed rumors that the album is named after her lead single, “Head Above Water.”
Avril made the announcement during an interview with Ellen K from KOST 103.5 in Burbank. After exchanging gifts, Avril talked about how she wrote and recorded “Head Above Water.” She revealed that she recorded the song’s vocals at her ex-husband Chad Kroeger’s studio. It was the first song she sang, and while recording, she nearly cried – which causes the vocal chords to tense up. Chad supported her and helped prevent Avril from crying so she could sing the song well.
Following discussion of the song, Avril spoke about her upcoming album. She confirmed that a song called “Warrior” will appear on the record, revealed she produced two of the songs herself, and announced that the album will come out in February!
Listen to Avril’s full interview with Ellen K below. Avril talks about her new album – and makes the February announcement – around the 7:30 mark.
And when did Avril say Head Above Water is the album’s title? In a livestream from KOST 103.5, there was some discussion of the album’s name. Avril and her team had not made any official announcements yet, but inadvertently confirmed the title at about 2:05. Watch the video below:
Earlier this year, Avril confirmed a 2018 release date. However, after she dropped “Head Above Water” last month with no information about the full record – or any other songs on it – fans began to wonder. It’s great to have official confirmation now.
