Hear Ellie Goulding’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Song, “Hollow Crown”

Today, the new Game Of Thrones soundtrack album For The Throne hit shelves. In addition to singles like “Power Is Power” by The Weeknd, SZA, and Travis Scott, the album also includes songs by the likes of Muse’s Matthew Bellamy, The National, and Rosalía. Early on, we get to hear Ellie Goulding’s contribution, “Hollow Crown.”

“Hollow Crown” starts with a haunting screeching guitar, setting a dark town for Ellie as she sings, “You know you’re fighting a losing battle, making a noose out of your hollow crown.” Throughout the song, Ellie describes the lack of trust and the lust for power that dominate many of the characters on Game Of Thrones, perhaps most notably Cersei Lannister. It’s a foreboding song that highlights the danger of isolation and having no allies left. It’s an excellent song that fits Ellie’s discography perfectly.

Game Of Thrones isn’t the only show to get an Ellie Goulding soundtrack song. Last month she shared “Do You Remember,” which appears in the film Fighting With My Family. Earlier this month, Ellie also dropped “In This Together” from the new Netflix nature documentary series, Our Planet.

More Ellie Goulding News

Beyond soundtracks, Ellie is also preparing to release her upcoming fourth album. She’s released three official singles so far: “Close To Me,” “Flux,” and, just last week, “Sixteen.”

Ellie’s long-awaited new album will serve as the follow-up to her 2015 record, Delirium. While we don’t have a title, tracklist, or release date for the forthcoming record, we expect to find out more in the coming weeks. In an interview last October, Ellie did reveal how the new music will sound. She said that most of the songs she’s written are quite sad, written about things that have built up over the years. Luckily they’re “not reflective” of how Ellie currently feels. In contrast to previous records, Ellie’s new songs talk about “quite specific things that have happened in my life, and something specific that happened to a friend of mine.”

Get ready to hear more about Ellie’s upcoming album in the coming months. For now, enjoy Ellie Goulding’s song, “Hollow Crown,” and be sure to check out the rest of the tracks on the For The Throne soundtrack album. Keep checking back here for all the latest music news.
