Lana Del Rey Previews Title Track From Upcoming Album
For the last year, Lana Del Rey has been getting ready to release her fifth album, Norman Fucking Rockwell. She’s shared three official singles so far: “Mariners Apartment Complex,” “Venice Bitch,” and “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but i have it.” Lana has also teased numerous songs. Her latest album preview is of the title track, “Norman Fucking Rockwell.” Lana wrote the song with Jack Antonoff.
In Lana’s drawing-filtered Instagram clip, Lana sings along to her own song, mouthing the lyrics. It’s a piano-driven song, but it’s not as melancholy as much of Lana’s work. Instead, this song is a bit more playful and mocking. “Norman Fucking Rockwell” sounds like a worthy title track and a stunning song. Here are the lyrics heard in the clip:
God damn man child
You fucked me so good that I almost said “I love you”
You’re fun and you’re wild
But you don’t know that half of the shit you put me throughYour poetry’s bad and you blame the news
But I can’t change that and I can’t change your moodAhhh
Cause you’re just a man; it’s just what you do
Get in your hands as you color me blue
Yeah you’re just a man, all through and through
In a comment, Lana added: “This is so much my favorite for so many reasons.”
Listen to Lana’s preview of the upcoming album’s title track below:
Throughout October 2018, Lana teased a few songs: “Cinnamon,” “Sylvia Plath,” and an unknown song featuring Machine Gun Kelly. More recently, she previewed “Happiness Is A Butterfly” and an unnamed track some fans know as “In Your Car”. In April, Lana teased another unknown song, this time more melancholy.
Lana has performed the new song “How To Disappear,” too. However, the two short country songs that Lana performed in December are not likely to appear on the album.
The only other songs we’ve heard in full are the three singles: “Mariners Apartment Complex,” “Venice Bitch,” and “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but i have it.”
Lana’s last album, Lust For Life, came out in July 2017. Lana entered the studio in January 2018, working with Jack Antonoff on the project. There’s no release date for Norman Fucking Rockwell yet, but it should be out by this fall.
