Editors Recreate “Frankenstein” Story In Dancey New Music Video
Just last week, Editors shared their addictive new song, “Frankenstein,” teasing a video at the time. Now the time has come: Fans can see the “Frankenstein” music video, and it’s as spooky as you’d expect, but also surprisingly dancey.
The video opens on a skinny man, going through the motions as if in a trance. Showers, breakfast, the morning commute, his day job as a police officer… none of it seems to bring him any joy. But one night he gets an incredible idea, and after a quick Google search on how to do it, he’s off to the graveyard. What follows is a reinterpretation of the classic “Frankenstein” story, complete with zombies and their mad scientist. But these pop-singers-turned-monsters don’t escape to pillage the town; instead, they stay and brighten up their creator’s dull life. They dance through the routine, until disaster strikes again.
Directed by Gregory Ohrel, the music video is as stunning as the song itself.

You can stream or download “Frankenstein” from all the major music providers here. The song was produced by Jacknife, the same man who produced Editors’ sophomore album, An End Has A Start.
“Frankenstein” is one of three songs Editors recorded with Jacknife in Los Angeles earlier this year. (Another song might be called “Black Gold.”) These tracks may appear on the band’s upcoming greatest hits album, due out later in 2019, though the band members are being coy about their exact plans.
Just one year ago, Editors released their 6th album, Violence. (It was one of our favorites of 2018.) After extensive touring and four singles – “Magazine,” “Hallelujah (So Low),” “Darkness At The Door,” and “Cold” – the band members worked on separate projects for a couple months. Frontman Tom Smith rejoined his other group, Smith & Burrows, to perform a brand new song. “All The Best Moves” is set to appear on their long-awaited second album together. Tom also appeared on a song with UNKLE called “The Other Side” last December, and then on “Crucifixion / A Prophet” earlier in March.
This year, Editors shared the unreleased Violence song “Barricades” ahead of their special album, The Blanck Mass Sessions, released last month.
Editors’ new single “Frankenstein” is a wonderful promise of more to come on – whether on an upcoming greatest hits compilation or for some other surprises. Enjoy the new single and its spooky music video, and stay tuned for more songs to come. As always, keep checking back here for all the latest Editors music news.
