Ellie Goulding Teams Up With Juice WRLD For “Hate Me”

Following several singles and soundtrack songs, Ellie Goulding is back with another new offering, this time with a little help from Juice WRLD. The two joined forces for their new single, “Hate Me,” a bitter track about a bad breakup.

“Hate Me” launches right into the chorus, Ellie taunting the listener to hate her and tell lies as she sings over a simple guitar. The verse takes the music into heavier territory, deep bass and ticking percussion adding to the song’s rancor. Ellie glides into her recognizable high register as she warns, “It’s a thin line between all this love and hate.” Juice WRLD takes on the second verse, his voice desperate as he describes the mind games an ex plays. “Hate Me” has a hypnotic, dooming sound, maintaining a constant feeling throughout.

“Hate Me” is the latest single from Ellie Goulding since last fall, and it’s expected to appear on her upcoming fourth album. The new record should also include “Close To Me,” featuring Swae Lee and Diplo, Ellie’s ballad “Flux,” and her nostalgic pop single “Sixteen.”

In addition to previewing her forthcoming album, Ellie has also been busy with numerous soundtracks. In February she shared “Do You Remember,” which appears in the film Fighting With My Family. Early in April, Ellie also dropped “In This Together” from the new Netflix nature documentary series, Our Planet. And that’s not all! Also in April, Ellie released “Hollow Crown” from the Game Of Thrones soundtrack album, For The Throne. That’s a lot of new Ellie Goulding music!

Ellie’s long-awaited new album will serve as the follow-up to her 2015 record, Delirium. While we don’t have a title, tracklist, or release date for the forthcoming record, we expect to find out more in the coming months. In an interview last October, Ellie did reveal how the new music will sound. She said that most of the songs she’s written are quite sad, written about things that have built up over the years. Luckily they’re “not reflective” of how Ellie currently feels. In contrast to previous records, Ellie’s new songs talk about “quite specific things that have happened in my life, and something specific that happened to a friend of mine.”

Enjoy Ellie’s new single, “Hate Me,” and stay tuned for a music video next. Keep jamming to the new song, and look out for details about Ellie’s upcoming album in the next few months. Keep checking back here for all the latest Ellie Goulding music news.
