Shakira Joins Anuel AA For New Single, “Me Gusta”
It’s been three years since Shakira’s last studio album, El Dorado. It launched a huge tour, which turned into the recent live film, Shakira In Concert: El Dorado World Tour. In late 2019, Shakira revealed she was in the studio working on new music for her next album. Today, we get to hear our first taste with “Me Gusta” featuring Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA.
Over a reggaeton beat, Anuel AA and Shakira take turns, singing the verses and choruses in halves. Anuel AA takes the lead while Shakira plays the role of responding. It’s a song of tortured love and wanting to reclaim what the couple once had. It samples Inner Circle’s 1992 song, “Sweat (A La La La La Long).”
“Me Gusta” also comes with a new lyric video. The animated video shows trains and couples walking toward a sunset. The vibrant colors and shapes give the video a retro vibe, similar to the single’s cover art.

You can stream or download “Me Gusta” from all the major music providers here. It’s expected to appear on Shakira’s new album, expected later this year.

“Me Gusta” isn’t the only exciting happening with Shakira in 2020. Next month, she’ll join Jennifer Lopez in performing the Superbowl Half Time Show. They’re keeping quiet on details, but it’s sure to be an incredible performance featuring many of their best-known hits.
Two months ago, Shakira’s new live film, Shakira In Concert: El Dorado World Tour, aired in cinemas around the world. Soon it should be available on streaming as well.
New Music
Shakira’s last album, El Dorado, came out in May 2017. It followed the singles “Chantaje” featuring Maluma and “Me Enamoré,” and led to the singles “Perro Fiel” featuring Nicky Jam, “Trap” featuring Maluma, and “Nada.” “La Bicicleta” with Carlos Vives, “Comme Moi” with Black M, and “Deja Vu” with Prince Royce were also singles prior to the album’s release.
In summer 2018, Shakira and Maluma teamed up a third time for their single “Clandestino.”
Shakira is now working on her next album, and “Me Gusta” is just the first taste. Stay tuned for more news as Shakira finishes recording, releases more songs, and announces the upcoming album.
