See Hayley Williams “Creepin'” In New Lyric Video

Hayley Williams has gifted fans with an endless onslaught of music in the last month. She’s taking a short break from fronting Paramore to release her first solo album, Petals For Armor, out on May 8th. We’ve already heard five songs on her new EP, and three of them got music videos. Following lyric videos for “Simmer” and for “Leave It Alone,” we now get a lyric video for the one of the EP songs, “Creepin.'” Its footage comes from the recording studio and a garden of flowers.

Hayley wrote “Creepin’” with Joey Howard and Steph Marziano, and Taylor York produced it. The song starts off with a sound of rain, Hayley crooning over bass about poor little vampire babies. It sounds serene enough, until its chorus hits. Low, distorted vocals ask, “So why you creepin’ ’round here?” as kinetic keys and guitar add texture underneath. It’s a surprising track, and perhaps the most fun on Hayley’s new EP.

In the lyric video, we see behind-the-scenes footage from the recording studio… and from a garden. We see a variety of flowers and a fluttering butterfly, presenting imagery that fits with the upcoming album’s title: Petals For Armor. Indeed, Hayley’s Petals For Armor Instagram account has featured plenty of flowers in the weeks leading up to the new music. Additional footage shows Hayley lurking amongst the plants in the dark. Finally, we get some shots of the recording studio, where we see how Hayley and her team of musicians, producers, and engineers developed the music. This lyric video is a great way to celebrate everyone who went into making this music.

Touring & Paramore’s Future

Hayley will tour for her solo album. She hasn’t yet given details on where or when, but stay tuned for more announcements on that in the coming weeks.

Hayley has also confirmed that Paramore is not over. They will make music together again, though it probably won’t sound like her forthcoming solo material. In any case, Hayley indicated that this solo album is an important step that will only help the band grow.
