Hayley Williams’s “Over Yet” Is Her Most Fun Solo Song So Far
It’s no secret that Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams is getting ready to release her first solo album, Petals For Armor, due out on May 8th. We’ve already gotten an EP of five of its songs – simply titled Petals For Armor I – and now Hayley is gearing up to release another EP, unsurprisingly called Petals For Armor II. Following “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris,” our second song from the second EP is “Over Yet,” and it’s out today with a new lyric video. Hayley co-wrote “Over Yet” with Joey Howard and Steph Marziano; Taylor York produced the song.
“Over Yet” is the most upbeat and fun song we’ve heard from Hayley’s solo album yet! While her previous releases have largely been dark and moody, this song is refreshingly breezy. It combines frantic energy with an ’80s dance diva chorus, and we are here for it. It’s the most instantly enjoyable solo song so far.
Hayley shared a message about writing it and how the song sounds:
wrote this one with @jellyquinn & @steph.marziano on a 3 day writing escapade, last summer. this one surprised us! went from industrial/punk beat to janet chorus REAL quick. all my faves rolled into one. thank god for this one coming out cause my attitude has been shiiiit lately. hope you’re well out there 🙏🏼.
The accompanying lyric video is mainly made up of photo shoots Hayley did in the last few months of 2019. We see her in various outfits, posing for the camera. One of the shoots shows when they captured the album cover for Petals For Armor. In addition to the cheery photo shoots, we also see some glimpses of Hayley and her team working on the song in the studio.

Petals For Armor I
In addition to “Over Yet” and “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris,” we can also hear five earlier songs Hayley put out in January and February. Two months ago, Hayley shared the Petals For Armor I EP, available now. Stream or download the EP from all the major music platforms here. It features the songs “Simmer,” “Leave It Alone,” “Cinnamon,” “Creepin,’” and “Sudden Desire.”
All seven songs we’ve heard so far will appear on Hayley’s upcoming full-length album, Petals For Armor, due out on May 8th. You can pre-order the album now here.
Touring & Paramore’s Future
Hayley previously announced an intimate solo tour across North America and Europe, set to begin in May. However, in all likelihood, the tour will be postponed due to coronavirus. You can still check out current date and locations – and purchase concert tickets – here, but realize these are very much subject to change.
Hayley has also confirmed that Paramore is not over. They will make music together again, though it probably won’t sound like her forthcoming solo material. In any case, Hayley indicated that this solo album is an important step that will only help the band grow.
