Hear Kelly Clarkson’s Stunning, Multi-Language New Single “I Dare You”

Fans have been anticipating Kelly Clarkson’s new single, “I Dare You,” for a few months now, and the day is finally here! Kelly just released her new single, but it’s so much more than just a song. We can hear the solo English version, sung entirely by Kelly, as well as five additional duets, each sung in the featured artist’s native language. All six versions get an accompanying lyric video, and there’s even an ASL lyric video on its way, too. Plus, we get to see all six artists in one multi-language duet video!

“I Dare You” builds on a rootsy soundscape, harkening back to the folk-pop that dominated airwaves in the early 2010s. Kelly paints a scene of wolves preying on those who are lost, leaving people mistrusting and hardened. It builds up on the pre-chorus, Kelly promising that you still have a say in your life, and you still have options. The chorus brings home the message: choose love, even if you think you can’t. It’s a powerful mid-tempo song, and it only grows better with each listen.

In addition to the English solo version, we also get five more duets. Kelly sings it in Spanish with Blas Cantó, in French with Zaz, in German with Glasperlenspiel, in Arabic with Faouzia, and in Hebrew with Maya Buskila. Each retains the sound of the song, but the language, additional singer, and duet vocals make each so unique, too. Even if you don’t speak the languages, we dare you to give the other versions a listen.

All six versions of the song come with a lyric video. It features photos of different couples and families, showing both diversity and hope. We also get to see Kelly and her five duet partners all together in one multi-language duet video. It was recorded separately, but it still captures the inclusivity of the song’s message.

More About “I Dare You”

Kelly initially confirmed “I Dare You” in a short clip from The Kelly Clarkson Show which aired at the end of February, though we first heard about it three months prior, and learned the title in December. Kelly has described the new song as one of her favorites she’s ever recorded. As she told POPSUGAR in November:

I haven’t had enough time to do a full album, but this song is so powerful. It’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever been the vessel for. I love the songwriter, I love the message. It’s all-encompassing and really magical. It’s about inclusivity, connecting with people, taking that higher road, and being the best version of yourself.

Kelly also recently described the song to Billboard, saying it’s “one of my favorite songs I’ll probably ever do in my career.” She continued:

It’s a beautifully written song and one of my favorite writers in the world wrote it. It’s kind of all of these worlds colliding and … the whole experience has been amazing and hopefully our whole idea for the song pans out. I’ve never done anything like this in my career. All of what I’m saying isn’t making sense until you actually know what’s happening, so I’m sorry for the weirdness. But you’ll know by the time it comes out, like,”OK, she’s not weird. It does make sense.” It’s a new way. I’ve never really done anything like it.

Now that we’ve finally heard “I Dare You” – not just in English, but in five other languages, too – these quotes make so much more sense!

Upcoming Album

Kelly has candidly revealed that her next album is not ready yet. That’s understandable, considering how busy she is nowadays, but we hope that by this December it’ll be a highlight of 2020 albums. Last year, Kelly stated the next album will sounds like a mixture of BreakawayStronger, and Meaning Of Life. That’s an A+ list, if we do say so ourselves.

Enjoy “I Dare You,” its new lyric video, and the five additional multi-language duets! We’ll playing this song (in all its versions) on repeat as we look forward to Kelly’s upcoming 8th studio album – there will surely be more information about it in the coming months. At this point, we expect to get the full album sometime in late summer or fall 2020. For now, keep checking back here for all the latest Kelly Clarkson music news.
