Florence + The Machine Offer “Light Of Love” As New Charity Single
It’s no secret that COVID-19 has had a tremendous and terrible impact on the world in the last few months. While most of us are self-isolating, many are on the frontlines, putting their lives at risk for the rest of us. Numerous musicians have stepped up to offer help and comfort in any way they can. Now, Florence + The Machine are sharing a new charity single, “Light Of Love,” and donating all proceeds to the Intensive Care Society COVID-19 fund.
The band wrote and recorded “Light Of Love” for their 2018 album, High As Hope. However, the song ended up not being including in the tracklisting. Florence + The Machine already shared another High As Hope leftover – “Moderation” – early in 2019. Given the message of “Light Of Love,” now has proven to be the perfect time to share it.
“Light Of Love” begins with confessional lyrics, only a piano to accompany Florence Welch’s voice. It starts off intimate and simple, but new details continue to emerge until its climax. Throughout the song, the music gradually grows fuller, adding in drums and strings and, finally, a choir. The end feels like a celebration before eventually fading out. It’s a beautiful track.

Listen to “Light Of Love,” an unheard song from High As Hope, released to raise awareness for the Intensive Care Society, which supports the incredible intensive care doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals who are treating and looking after the sickest of patients, who are putting themselves at risk whilst working under immense pressure. This organisation is using any donations to fund mental health support for the professionals, patients, and relatives affected by COVID-19, including the distribution of morale boosting wellbeing packages, food, and essentials to Intensive Care Units, and providing support to the patients who survive and for relatives of those who have lost their lives. Florence will be donating all her income from this song to The Intensive Care Society COVID-19 fund and welcomes fans to make a donation if they are in a position to do so. ❤️

High As Hope & Recent Singles
Florence + The Machine’s last full album, High As Hope, came in June 2018. It started with the singles “Sky Full Of Song” and“Hunger,” also giving videos to “Big God” and “South London Forever” live. In January 2019, the band shared the High As Hope leftover, “Moderation,” and its more recently recorded b-side, “Haunted House.”
In April 2019, Florence + The Machine shared their haunting version of “Jenny Of Oldstones,” from the final season of Game Of Thrones.
Last summer, we also got the 10-Year Anniversary rerelease of Lungs, Florence + The Machine’s debut album. It came with numerous bonus tracks and b-sides, plus some previously unheard demos.
