Hayley Williams Teases Two More Songs from Upcoming Album
Over the last four months, we’ve gotten more and more excited for Hayley Williams’s first solo album, Petals For Armor. Now we’re just two days away from hearing it in full! We’ve already gotten ten of its songs – included on two EPs – along with music videos, lyric videos, and more. This week, Hayley has been counting down these last few days with teasers of the remaining unheard songs on the album. Part III of Petals For Armor will feature the songs “Pure Love,” “Taken,” “Sugar On The Rim,” “Watch Me While I Bloom,” and “Crystal Clear.” Yesterday, fans got short previews of the first two. Today, we can hear teasers of “Sugar On The Rim” and “Watch Me While I Bloom.”
From this clip, “Sugar On The Rim” sounds jittery and sleazy (in a good way). Over a kinetic beat, Hayley chants a disco pop verse of new sensations and exceeded expectations. We’ll need to hear the whole song to judge it properly, but we’re intrigued. Hayley wrote “Sugar On The Rim” with Taylor York, who also produced it.
“Watch Me While I Bloom” takes on a funky presence, bass prominent before the chorus drops. It’s energetic and seems to offer an empowering message of self-love. It also builds on the floral themes throughout the album – from the album title taken from “Simmer” to “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris” to this. Hayley wrote “Watch Me While I Bloom” with Taylor and Daniel James; Taylor also produced.
Listen to previews of both “Sugar On The Rim” and “Watch Me While I Bloom” below:
“Sugar On The Rim,” “Watch Me While I Bloom,” and all 10 of the songs we’ve already heard in full will appear on Hayley’s upcoming album, Petals For Armor, out this Friday. You can pre-order the album now here.
While we await the full album and its final five songs, you can listen to the first two EPs. Petals For Armor I features the songs “Simmer,” “Leave It Alone, “Cinnamon,” “Creepin,’” and “Sudden Desire.” Meanwhile, Petals For Armor II features Hayley’s five most recent releases: “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris,” “Over Yet,” “My Friend,” “Why We Ever,” and “Dead Horse.”
Touring & Paramore’s Future
Hayley had previously announced an intimate solo tour across North America and Europe, which was supposed to begin right about now. Unfortunately, just like everything else, the tour has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. New dates are expected for 2021, so hang tight.
Paramore fans also don’t need to worry: Hayley has also confirmed that Paramore is not over. They will make music together again, though it probably won’t sound like her forthcoming solo material. In any case, Hayley indicated that this solo album is an important step that will only help the band grow.
