Hayley Williams Unearths “Watch Me While I Bloom” Lyric Video

Just three weeks ago, Hayley Williams released her first solo album, Petals For Armor, and we’re still loving it. Following a music video and lyric video for “Dead Horse,” Hayley is now back with a “Watch Me While I Bloom” lyric video. Hayley wrote the song with Taylor York and Daniel James; Taylor also produced.

“Watch Me While I Bloom” starts with interesting synths before Hayley belts, “How lucky I feel!” It has a shuffling energy, dynamic sounds, and impassioned vocals that harken back to Paramore’s albums. The song moves to a funky chorus, bass prominent before the beat drops. It’s energetic and offers an empowering message of self-love. It also builds on the floral themes throughout the album – from the album title taken from “Simmer” to “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris” to this. “Watch Me While I Bloom” is an even mix of everything on Petals For Armor – the funky, the pop, the earthy, with some soulful vocals for good measure.

The lyric video for “Watch Me While I Bloom” gives us a look at the song’s recording. We get to see how, in early January 2020, the bass line was tracked by Brian Robert Jones. The rest of the video shows Hayley dancing in the car with her friend and photographer, Lindsey Byrnes, while they get a first listen of the song. It’s great to see them looking so happy and energized, and it somehow makes “Watch Me While I Bloom” even better.

Touring & Paramore’s Future

Hayley had previously announced an intimate solo tour across North America and Europe, which was supposed to begin right about now. Unfortunately, just like everything else, the tour has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. New dates are expected for 2021, so hang tight.

Paramore fans also don’t need to worry: Hayley has also confirmed that Paramore is not over. They will make music together again, though it probably won’t sound like her forthcoming solo material. In any case, Hayley indicated that this solo album is an important step that will only help the band grow.
