Watch Lyric Video for Of Monsters And Men’s “Visitor”

Two weeks ago, Of Monsters And Men shared their new single, “Visitor,” the first taste of a full album due early next year. It came with a music video at the time. Now, in case you still need help learning the words, the song gets a lyric video.

“Visitor” comes in with a crash, big drums belying a rather haunting song. Nanna sings of eerie dreams about knowing someone, but they need to wake up before they disappear. Following the two verses and choruses, “Visitor” has an extended outro of Nanna insisting that her mother was wrong: She’s not afraid of the dark and doesn’t mind the ghosts.

Frontwoman Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir shared a bit about the new song and music video in a recent press release:

“Visitor” is a song about disconnection and being on the fringe of change, seeing everything you once knew disappear, and finding yourself in the role of the visitor. It was written and recorded when the world was a completely different place, but the post-apocalyptic world of the video seems fitting. We shot the music video for it in Iceland in the freezing cold of February right before the pandemic hit. We are so very excited to finally share this song with you. Much love.

The new lyric video grants fans with behind-the-scenes footage from the music video shoot. We get to see more of the jittery dancing and band performance, but also the fun that went on between takes. The words appear simply at the bottom of the screen, and already we’ve noticed new insights into the lyrical depth.

In a press release, Of Monsters And Men announced that we’ll be getting “a body of work coming at the top of 2021 in celebration of the group’s tenth anniversary together.” Exciting! We can’t wait. Luckily, “Visitor” is an excellent song to tide us over until then.

According to the band’s press release:

The single sets the stage for 2021 when the band will celebrate 10 years of being together with more new music and other exciting content for fans. It brings everything full circle for the band with a bold new body of work.

More from Of Monsters And Men

It’s only been a year since Of Monsters And Men released their excellent third album, Fever Dream. That record launched the singles “Alligator,” “Wild Roses,” and “Wars.”

In July, Of Monsters And Men shared their cover of Post Malone’s “Circles” as a single. A month prior, they had performed it on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

At this point, it seems that “Visitor” is our first taste of a lot more to come. Get ready for a full album in early 2021!

Enjoy “Visitor” and its new lyric video! For more musical greatness, be sure to go back and listen to the band’s Fever Dream album, too. And as always, keep checking back here for all the latest Of Monsters And Men music news.
