The Weeknd & Rosalía Offer Spanglish Remix of “Blinding Lights”
It’s no secret that The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” has been one of the biggest songs of the year, and deservedly so. Following a couple of remixes – one from Major Lazer, and one featuring Chromatics – today the single gets its third big remix, this time throwing in another language. The Weeknd recruited Spanish songstress Rosalía for a Spanglish version of the song.
Rosalía kicks off with the first verse, sung almost entirely in Spanish. She adjusts the melody a bit to better fit her voice, but still maintains the distinctive atmosphere. The duo sings together on the chorus, new harmonies giving the song an updated mood. After The Weeknd sings the second verse, Rosalía takes on the bridge and a newly added outro part. “Blinding Lights” is as energetic and dazzling as ever, and the additional Spanish suits the song nicely.
The remix also comes with a lyric video – helpful regardless of which language you speak. We get a behind-the-scenes look at The Weeknd and Rosalía posing for the cameras during a photo shoot. Meanwhile, the lyrics play across the bottom of the screen.

In addition to the singles “Heartless,” “Blinding Lights,” and “In Your Eyes,” The Weeknd also shared the title track as a promo single, performed the ballad “Scared To Live” on SNL, and shared music videos for “Until I Bleed Out,” “Snowchild,” and “Too Late.” We also got two remixes of “In Your Eyes”: one featuring Doja Cat and, more recently, one with Kenny G.
More Collaborations with The Weeknd
The Weeknd has been busy with collaborations this year, and not just on remixes of his own songs. Over the summer, The Weeknd’s single with the late Juice WRLD, “Smile,” came out. We also got “Over Now,” a song he did with Calvin Harris.
At the end of October, Ariana Grande released her latest album, Positions. The Weeknd joined her on the song “Off The Table.” One month ago, The Weeknd teamed up with Maluma for a remix of “Hawái.” And you thought this “Blinding Lights” remix was the only Spanish you’d hear on a song with The Weeknd!
The Weeknd had a huge After Hours tour planned for this summer, but alas, COVID-19 struck and ruined the year for us all. The tour has been tentatively rescheduled for 2021.
