Shakira Gives Updates From Miami Studio Sessions
Shakira has been quietly working on her next album, the followup to 2017’s El Dorado, in the past couple of years. Although the release of “Me Gusta” featuring Anuel AA early last year felt like the start of an era, it seems to have actually been a standalone single. Since then, Shakira had a hit with the Black Eyed Peas on “Girl Like Me” last year. However, how is her next album going? In the past week, Shakira has relocated to Miami to work on new music. She shared a series of posts since last Wednesday, and has worked with writers and producers Ali Tamposi, Andrew Watt, and The Monsters & Strangerz.
Last Wednesday, Shakira said:
Ready to leave my house to go to my first in-person studio session to meet with some awesome collaborators thanks to safety measures and vaccines. I can’t wait!
The next day, Shakira shared a picture from the Miami studio with the writers and producers she’s working with:
Ok… That was a sweet session with Andrew Watt, Ali Tamposi and the Monsters, having laughs and making real music!
Doesn’t get any better!
Today, she wrote only: 🎙📝🎶 Day 3 ✅
These aren’t the only studio updates we’ve gotten from Shakira this year, but it is the first time she’s shared so many in such a short timeframe.
In March, Shakira shared that she was “cooking something” from the vocal booth:
In February, she also shared a humorous video of her procrastinating while alone in her studio:
Latest Shakira News
Shakira’s last studio album, El Dorado, came out in May 2017. It followed the singles “Chantaje” featuring Maluma and “Me Enamoré,” and led to the singles “Perro Fiel” featuring Nicky Jam, “Trap” featuring Maluma, and “Nada.” “La Bicicleta” with Carlos Vives, “Comme Moi” with Black M, and “Deja Vu” with Prince Royce were also singles prior to the album’s release.
In summer 2018, Shakira and Maluma teamed up a third time for their standalone single “Clandestino.”
In November 2019, Shakira’s latest live film, Shakira In Concert: El Dorado World Tour, aired in cinemas around the world. It’s now available on streaming as well.
Shakira kicked off 2020 with her single “Me Gusta” featuring Anuel AA. Then, that February, Shakira joined Jennifer Lopez in performing the Superbowl Half Time Show. It was an incredible performance featuring many of their best-known hits. Check out a full video of it here.
Shakira then appeared in “Girl Like Me” with the Black Eyed Peas. The song became a big hit last fall and winter.
We’re excited that Shakira is making progress on her new music in Miami now. Hopefully we’ll get to hear something before the end of this year!
