Avril Lavigne's debut album, Let Go, was released on June 4, 2002. It was the 17 year old's introduction to the world, and the album ended being bigger than anyone could have imagined. The first single from Let Go was "Complicated," released in May 2002. The song was a radio hit, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100; to this day it remains one of Avril's most memorable singles. It was followed by "Sk8er Boi" in August; it was another hit, also reaching the top 10 on radio charts around the world. The ballad "I'm With You" was the third single in November. It is also one of Avril's biggest hits, and peaked at #4 on the Hot 100. The last single was "Losing Grip" in April 2003. Despite the momentum of the first three singles, it didn't fare as well with radio due to its heavier sound.
Let Go was an impressive debut, and received multiple Grammy nominations. Avril helped forge an important musical style of the early to mid 2000s, and Let Go ended up selling 20 million copies. Highlights on the album include "Losing Grip," "Complicated," "Sk8er Boi," "I'm With You," and "Things I'll Never Say."
