Green Day – ¡Dos!

Following ¡Uno! in September, ¡Dos! was released as the second part of the trilogy on November 13, 2012. This album shows the most diversity and unpredictability of Green Day. Unlike ¡Uno! and ¡Tré!, which both represent a continuation of familiar Green Day sounds, ¡Dos! is a bit of new territory for the band. It’s the “at the party” album, and the darkest part of the trilogy. It could be compared to Green Day’s side band, the Foxboro Hot Tubs, and their 2008 album Stop Drop And Roll!!! Due to Billie Joe’s being in rehab, there was little promotion specifically for ¡Dos! Its only single was “Stray Heart,” which premiered on October 8th. The video came out on November 7th, just before the album release. It did not chart in the US.

!Dos! had a more dirty garage rock sound. It was unlike anything Green Day had put out in the past – apart from their side project, Foxboro Hot Tubs. It received mixed reviews from fans and critics, but it shows the most growth and is the most impressive of the trilogy. Highlights on ¡Dos! include “Stray Heart,” “Wild One,” “Wow! That’s Loud,” “Amy,” and “Lazy Bones.”
