Green Day announced an ambitious and generous project in 2012: To release not one, not two, but three albums. The trilogy began with ¡Uno! on September 25, 2012. Billie Joe often described it as the "getting ready for the party" album, and the one the leaned most towards their early punk roots. The first single, "Oh Love," was released on July 16th. Green Day released multiple singles and promotional singles ahead of the album's release. "Kill The DJ" came out on August 14th, "Let Yourself Go" was released on September 5th, and "Nuclear Family" came on September 11th. Two days before the album's release, "Stay The Night" was released. Billie Joe was admitted to rehab just two days before the release of ¡Uno!, resulting in almost no promotion following September 25th. In spite of the complications, the album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200.
!Uno! had a sound most comparable to Green Day's early punk recordings. It was more similar to Dookie than albums of the 21st century. Highlights on ¡Uno! include "Kill The DJ," "Oh Love," "Stay The Night," "Sweet 16," and "Troublemaker."
