Following their 2016 album Taking One For The Team - plus the 15-year anniversary of their debut, No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls - Simple Plan is gearing up for their sixth album. In fall 2018, frontman Pierre Bouvier and drummer Chuck Comeau began the writing process for the new album. They've written with Travis Clark of We The Kings several times, but have also stated they've worked with other writers as well. As of spring 2019, they were nearly done writing.
In late July 2019, all five members of Simple Plan officially entered the studio to begin recording the sixth album. At the end of 2019, guitarist Jeff Stinco stated they were planning to finish the last few songs in January 2020. However, as of February 2020, they're still finishing up the album.
Simple Plan has said they aim to release the album in Spring 2020. At this point, we should expect some exciting news pretty soon. Whenever we get to hear the new music, we can be sure it will be "phenomenal"! The band members say the new music will cover a bit of everything we love from them - happy love songs, dark and tragic tunes, energetic punk songs, ballads, and more.
