Sara Bareilles & Cyndi Lauper Collaborate On “Truly Brave” Mashup
Singers Sara Bareilles and Cyndi Lauper recently came together for an unexpected yet moving collaboration, thanks to the inspiration of Today Show host, Hoda Kotb. Hoda, a breast cancer survivor, recently started “Project Truly Brave” with the mission of bringing joy to children battling cancer. During her own cancer battle in 2007, she found that music was one thing that always made her feel better. That gave her the idea to create a new anthem for survivors and fighters. Hoda thought about what artists and songs meant a lot to her, and enlisted Sara Bareilles and Cyndi Lauper to make a mashup of their hit singles, “Brave” and “True Colors.” The result is “Truly Brave.”
The song mashup was arranged and recording in only two days, and the results are magical. Sara and Cyndi blend surprisingly well, and “Truly Brave” is a song that can bring tears to anyone who battled or has a loved one who battled cancer. It inspires strength and courage, along with the promise that their loved ones will be there for them. It’s a powerful song with an encouraging message.
You can watch an interview about how Hoda thought of and organized the “Truly Brave” collaboration below:
The video is set at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the children are patients battling cancer. You can learn more about them and their stories at Today News. If you would like to donate, please visit https://www.crowdrise.com/hoda
