Maroon 5 Reveals Tracklisting & Cover Art for New Album “V”

Maroon 5’s anticipated 5th studio album V is coming out in just over a month, and now fans can put a face to the name: The band has just revealed the cover art and tracklisting for the new record.

V‘s album cover is quite different from that of their previous record, 2012’s Overexposed. Whereas their 4th album was colorful, loud, and almost obnoxiously busy, V looks simplistic and stripped down. This may be a good representation of the new album, which “captures the essence of the earliest Maroon 5 hits” along with the more recent pop sound from their last release. That’s good news for their older fans!

2. Animals

4. Unkiss Me
5. Sugar
6. Leaving California

Here is Maroon 5’s full statement from Facebook:

July 21, 2014 (Santa Monica, CA) –Today, Maroon 5 has released the tracklisting for their fifth studio album, V, which features their latest chart-topping single #Maps. The album is set to debut on September 2, 2014 via 222 Records/ Interscope Records. In addition to the tracklisting, the band also revealed the upcoming album’s cover art.

For more information on Maroon 5 and the album, head to check out the band’s redesigned website.

Bringing it all back home, V features the return of M5’s original keyboardist Jesse Carmichael to the fold, rejoining frontman Adam Levine, guitarist James Valentine, bassist Mickey Madden, drummer/percussionist Matt Flynn, and keyboardist PJ Morton after a two-year hiatus. Maroon 5’s latest provides a sonic summation of the group’s journey to date – capturing the essence of the earliest M5 hits through to their most recent successes, as well as providing a picture of its artistic growth into the future.

The first single “Maps” is a great song that perfectly mixes Maroon 5’s earlier style with their newer evolution. If it’s any indication, the rest of V should addition to their catalog. Which song are you most excited to hear?
