Maroon 5 Reveals Tracklisting & Cover Art for New Album “V”

Maroon 5’s anticipated 5th studio album V is coming out in just over a month, and now fans can put a face to the name: The band has just revealed the cover art and tracklisting for the new record.

V‘s album cover is quite different from that of their previous record, 2012’s Overexposed. Whereas their 4th album was colorful, loud, and almost obnoxiously busy, V looks simplistic and stripped down. This may be a good representation of the new album, which “captures the essence of the earliest Maroon 5 hits” along with the more recent pop sound from their last release. That’s good news for their older fans!

The new album features 11 new songs – including one featuring Gwen Stefani, who is working on her own album – along with 3 additional B-sides. Check out the V tracklisting below:

1. Maps
2. Animals
3. It Was Always You
4. Unkiss Me
5. Sugar
6. Leaving California
7. In Your Pocket

Bringing it all back home, V features the return of M5’s original keyboardist Jesse Carmichael to the fold, rejoining frontman Adam Levine, guitarist James Valentine, bassist Mickey Madden, drummer/percussionist Matt Flynn, and keyboardist PJ Morton after a two-year hiatus. Maroon 5’s latest provides a sonic summation of the group’s journey to date – capturing the essence of the earliest M5 hits through to their most recent successes, as well as providing a picture of its artistic growth into the future.

The first single “Maps” is a great song that perfectly mixes Maroon 5’s earlier style with their newer evolution. If it’s any indication, the rest of V should addition to their catalog. Which song are you most excited to hear?
