Two days ago, Lana Del Rey surprised fans with her new single, “Love.” It’s a romantic, soft song that shows off Lana’s happier side. Today, fans can enjoy the song with its new music video, directed by Rich Lee. As with the song, the “Love” music video has a vintage, 1960s vibe. Lana appears on stage, decorated with flowers in her hair and thin winged eyeliner. Between her live shots, the video also shows a few young couples enjoying dates together. But this is no simple love story. The single’s artwork suggested some spacey imagery, and that shows up in the video as the moon grows huge and comets shoot through the sky. Eventually we see old cars and the young couples floating in space. The video has a sci-fi edge, alternating between black and white and faded color.

“Love” was originally titled “Young And In Love” when it appeared on ASCAP. Lana finished the song and music video months ago, but more recently finished recording a new album. The upcoming album is expected out this spring, and will serve as the follow up to Lana’s 2015 record, Honeymoon.
According to Variance Magazine, a representative for Lana revealed that the new album will include “exciting guest featured artists.” While they have not confirmed which artists will appear on the album, we can expect a song with The Weeknd. Lana has collaborated with him on three song already, all for his own studio albums. Additionally, Lana stated, “I made my first four albums for me, but this one is for my fans and about where I hope we are all headed.”
“Love” is the first new Lana music in quite a while. Other than a music video for “Freak” early in 2016, Lana stayed quiet for most of the year. Her only other appearances were on The Weeknd’s impressive new album, Starboy. She co-wrote and sang on “Party Monster” and “Stargirl Interlude.” Lana previously collaborated with The Weekend on his Beauty Behind The Madness track, “Prisoner.”
Now that a new Lana Del Rey era is starting, things will get pretty exciting for her fans over the rest of this year. You can buy “Love” on iTunes now.
