Simple Plan Is Ready For The Weekend On Upbeat New Single, “Saturday”
Simple Plan has been busy recording their 5th studio album, the follow-up to 2011’s Get Your Heart On, for most of this year. They seem to be just about done now, with the still-untitled record slated for a fall release. Apart from a live version of “Boom” last November, our first official taste of the new album is the weekend-ready “Saturday.” It’s a fun, upbeat, pop punk song spurred on by youthful gang chants of “S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y… night!” As frontman Pierre Bouvier sings, even though he could be doing any number of crazy things with his friends, the only place he wants to be on the weekend is at home with his girl.
“Saturday” isn’t the first single, but it does give us a hint of how the new album will sound. The band has stated that their new songs are all over the place stylistically, so there’s plenty more to look forward to. Simple Plan’s new album will be out this fall. More details – title, album art, track list, release date – should be revealed in the coming weeks. For now, you can buy “Saturday” on iTunes and get ready for the long-awaited new record.
