Tove Lo & Jax Jones’s “Jacques” Gets Dizzying Music Video
Two weeks ago, Tove Lo and Jax Jones shared their new song, “Jacques,” which appears on both of their new albums. Jax’s new album, Snacks (Supersize), is out now, while Tove’s Sunshine Kitty is still just over a week away. Today, “Jacques” comes with a trippy new music video.
Although Tove is Swedish and Jax is English, their new song takes its influences from France. It’s an electro-house song about a one-night stand with a French man. While Tove plays herself in the lyrics, Jax takes on the character of Jacques. The flirty words – complete with exclamations of “oh la la la” – match the vibe of the music perfectly. In contrast to Tove’s first two singles, this one sounds more like her previous work.
The new music video follows the vibe of the electro-house song. Tove and Jax are both shown inside a dark club lit up by flashing neon lights. The (rather 1990s) visuals get more dizzying as their images are doubled and tripled, made hazy by the numerous effects and cartoon images floating across the screen. Watching the video makes you feel like you’re in that club where Tove found Jacques. It’s disorienting, but welcomingly so.
