Two Hilary Duff Songs Leak: Hear “Wild Night Out” & “If I Fall”
Red alert – two new Hilary Duff songs have just leaked! Hilary Duff released her last album, Breathe In. Breathe Out., in June 2015. Although she’d started down a folk pop direction – evidenced by her 2014 singles, “Chasing The Sun” and “All About You” – the final album featured newer, more elctro-pop songs. Lead single “Sparks” signaled the stylistic shift, but some of the earlier, more folk pop songs still made the cut or appeared as bonus tracks. Two of those earlier songs finally leaked today, and based on how “Wild Night Out” and “If I Fall” sound, Hilary could have released a whole second album of pop magic.
We first heard about “Wild Night Out” when its title appeared on ASCAP in May 2014. Hilary co-wrote the song with Toby Gad and Lindy Robbins. The song kicks off with acoustic guitar and a rootsy beat. Hilary’s laugh at the beginning foreshadows the fun, carefree energy that defines the track. She sings about letting loose and misbehaving – all in the name of good fun. “Wild Night Out” is an innocent hoedown, and it fits well with Hilary’s 2014 single, “All About You.”

“If I Fall” appeared on ASCAP in July 2014. Hilary wrote the song with Toby Gad and Wayne Hector. In contrast to “Wild Night Out,” “If I Fall” is softer and more introspective. Over a delicate, music box soundscape, Hilary sings about taking a step back and shutting everything down. Her vocals are ethereal and dreamy until the song’s powerful chorus. The lyrics speak to Hilary’s life changes: moving from an intense and prolific career (Lizzy McGuire, multiple movies and albums, a clothing line) to halting everything, getting married, and having a kid. In an interview five years ago, Hilary described it as being about:
Everyone not believing in me, and me being really scared to be alone after I’d been surrounded by 100 people for 5 years of my life.
“If I Fall” is an incredible song, and it’s amazing to get to hear it after all these years.

Rumor has it more Breathe In. Breathe Out. leftovers are circulating. With any luck, we’ll get to hear some more Hilary Duff songs.
Even better, we still hope Hilary will officially release more music – whether they’re leftover tracks or all-new recordings. She is, after all, dating songwriter/producer Matthew Koma. The couple just had their first child together, daughter Banks, born last fall. Hilary also has a son, Luca, from her previous marriage to Mike Comrie.
Last we heard, Hilary isn’t planning to record music anytime soon. She’s currently busy with her two children and her TV series, Younger. But if she changes her mind and enters a recording studio, we’ll be among the first to report it!
