Silk Sonic “Skate” in With Their Second Single

It’s already been nearly five months since Silk Sonic (the duo between Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) released their first single together, “Leave The Door Open.” At long last, Silk Sonic is now back with their second single, and “Skate” is just as smooth and rich. Each of these songs will appear on their upcoming album, An Evening With Silk Sonic, expected out this fall or winter.

“Skate” kicks off with some percussion and gliding strings, making for a beautiful and sweet soundscape. Anderson .Paak takes on the first verse, describing how wonderful he thinks this woman is. Bruno Mars then takes over for the chorus, encouraging the woman to approach him. Bruno also gets the second verse, but they both trade off on the bridge. The song sounds just as retro as “Leave The Door Open” did, and it highlights excellent vocals and an uplifting atmosphere.

Matching the old-school style, the video looks like it was filmed in the 1970s. Bruno and Anderson are again behind their instruments the entire time, joined by their band. Meanwhile, a posse of woman roller skate in front of them, having a good time and enjoying the tune. It’s a simple but effective video, just like the clip for “Leave The Door Open.”

We still don’t have a release date or tracklist for that, but the album is expected sometime later this year or in early 2022.

More from Bruno Mars

Bruno’s last album, 24K Magic, came out in November 2016; he ultimately won six Grammys for it and its singles. It launched the singles “24K Magic,” “That’s What I Like,” and “Versace On The Floor,” plus a duet version of “Finesse” featuring Cardi B. In February 2019, Bruno and Cardi teamed up again for a new song called “Please Me.” The previous year, Bruno had also collaborated with Gucci Mane and Kodak Black on the single, “Wake Up In The Sky.”

More from Anderson .Paak

Anderson’s last album, Ventura, came out in April 2019, only five months after his previous album. Ventura launched the singles “King James” and “Make It Better” (featuring Smokey Robinson).

Do you like “Skate” as much as “Leave The Door Open”? So far, Silk Sonic are two for two, and we can’t wait to hear the full album. Look out for more news about An Evening With Silk Sonic, due this fall or winter. Keep checking back here for all the latest music news.
