Muse Are Back In The Studio And Promise A “New Song Coming Soon”

Over the last few months, Muse has been quietly recording new material. Between December and March, frontman Matt Bellamy and drummer Dom Howard have shared a handful of behind-the-scenes looks at them in the studio, busy writing songs and tracking drums. Now it looks like some of those new tunes will reach fans’ ears very soon! Matt just shared a short video of himself in the studio, recording a guitar part.

In the video below, you can hear Matt describing the new recording as “slightly sharp, slightly bright,” “a tiny bit too distorted,” and needing “a bit more delay.” Meanwhile, he captions it with the intriguing, exciting message of “new music coming soon…”

In the longer version of the video below, you can hear some of the new tune:

Matt doesn’t say exactly how soon we’ll get this new song. Will it be a standalone single? The first preview of an upcoming album?

The song may be released in conjunction with Muse’s upcoming tour with 30 Seconds To Mars and PVRIS, which kicks off later this spring. (Check out tour dates and tickets before it’s too late!)

Last November, Muse hinted that the new album may be more stripped down and acoustic… or hip-hop. They also said the new album most likely won’t be ready until 2018. At the time they only tentatively mentioned a new song or two could be ready in 2017. Luckily for us, that part came true, and only a few months into the year!

Muse is still maintaining the mystery for now, but soon enough we’ll learn more about this new song and the upcoming 8th album. It will serve as the followup to their 2015 record, Drones. Keep checking back here for all the latest on Muse’s new music.
