Ariana Grande Joins The Weeknd on “Save Your Tears” Remix

The Weeknd and Ariana Grande are a formidable duo, and they’ve reunited for their third collaboration. Following their duets “Love Me Harder” and “Off The Table” — both of which appeared on Ariana’s studio albums — this is their first collaboration that started with The Weeknd. Today, fans can hear a remix of The Weeknd’s song “Save Your Tears,” now featuring vocals from Ariana Grande.

“Save Your Tears” was already one of the highlights on The Weeknd’s latest album, After Hours. With its driving groove and ’80s synths, plus themes of regretting a breakup, it’s a saccharine song in its original form. The new remix starts off mostly the same, The Weeknd singing the first verse and chorus. Though Ariana sings subtle melodies up until then, she takes over on the second verse and chorus. As always, The Weeknd and Ariana’s voices sound perfect together, a sweet blend the suits the song.

For the new animated music video, we’re swept away to a factory in the desert. The Weeknd is building a life-size doll or robot, and he picks out the perfect head to add the body he was already working on. Eventually, Ariana Grande emerges as his completed creation. (The original music video for the solo version of “Save Your Tears” was wildly different.)

In addition to the singles “Heartless,” “Blinding Lights,” and “In Your Eyes,” The Weeknd also shared the title track as a promo single, performed the ballad “Scared To Live” on SNL, and shared music videos for “Until I Bleed Out,” “Snowchild,” and “Too Late.”

The Weeknd has also shared numerous remixes of his After Hours songs. Last May he remixed “Blinding Lights” with Chromatics; it was one of five remixes on his After Hours (Remixes) EP. He later offered two remixes of “In Your Eyes”: one featuring Doja Cat and, more recently, one with Kenny G. And last December, The Weeknd and Spanish singer Rosalía teamed up for a remix of “Blinding Lights.”

The Weeknd’s Recent Collaborations

The Weeknd has been busy with collaborations in the past year, and not just on remixes of his own songs. Over the summer, The Weeknd’s single with the late Juice WRLD, “Smile,” came out. We also got “Over Now,” a song he did with Calvin Harris.

At the end of October, Ariana Grande released her latest album, Positions. The Weeknd joined her on the song “Off The Table,” their second collaboration together. In early November, The Weeknd teamed up with Maluma for a remix of “Hawái.”

The Weeknd had a huge After Hours tour planned for last summer, but alas, COVID-19 struck and ruined the year for us all. The tour has been rescheduled for next year. From January through May 1st, 2022, The Weeknd will tour across the US and Canada. He’ll then be all over Europe from September through November. Find all tour dates and get tickets here.
