Editors’ Tom Smith Joins UNKLE On New Track, “The Other Side”

Editors frontman Tom Smith teamed up with the experimental music group UNKLE for a new single, “The Other Side.” It’s a surprising pairing, yet it’s not the first time they’ve collaborated. UNKLE recently shared an epic remix of Editors’ latest single, “Cold,” so this new collaboration is the natural next step. Composer and cellist Philip Sheppard also co-wrote the song.

Tom sings on “The Other Side,” a dark song about switching roles and recovering from past mistakes. Tom sings from the perspective of “a ghost from the other side” calling out and trying to be heard. He repeats that “I will never let you down again” throughout, while a winding synth and lush strings fill out the sound. It’s a mesmerizing song that fits perfectly with Tom’s work with his band, Editors.

Listen to “The Other Side” below:

“The Other Side” will appear on UNKLE’s upcoming album, The Road: Part II / Lost Highway. Following “Ar.Mour” featuring Elliott Power and Miink, “The Other Side” is the second single from the record. You can pre-order the album now and get instant downloads of both songs. The album is due out on March 29, 2019. It’s the followup to their 2017 album, The Road.

Tom Smith’s band, Editors, just finished touring in support of their latest album, Violence. That record has launched their singles “Magazine,” “Halleluljah (So Low),” “Darkness At The Door,” and “Cold.” Last month, they shared the UNKLE Remix of “Cold”; listen to the track below:

Enjoy “The Other Side,” and get ready to hear more from UNKLE when their album, The Road: Part II / Lost Highway, comes out next spring.

In other Tom Smith news, he and Andy Burrows debuted a new song live a couple of weeks ago. “All The Best Moves” may be our first hint of their long-overdue second Smith & Burrows record. For now, their first one is still perfect to listen to this time of year. Indeed, Funny Looking Angels is a underrated Christmas album. And of course, be sure to get Editors’ new album, Violence.
