Hear Hayley Williams’s Latest Song, “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris”

Early last week, Hayley Williams shared the lyrics for a new song, “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris.” Today, fans can hear the song in full. Hayley wrote it with Taylor York and Daniel James, and Taylor produces. “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris” features Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus – of the indie group boygenius – on backing vocals, and it’s set to appear on Hayley’s upcoming solo album, Petals For Armor, out on May 8th.

Like Hayley’s previously released solo songs, “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris” continues in the same subdued, almost calming soundscape. But while her first EP featured underlying currents of rage and suspense, this new song is more serene and atmospheric. It feels very 1970s, and its floral imagery only solidifies that impression. It’s a nice track, but not as impactful as the Petals For Armor I songs.

The song also comes with a visualizer video, showing various flowers and kaleidoscopic colors. It was created by Mike Kluge.
